@mersko1 I think rats live longer with the tumor than having it surgically removed. I have heard some that have had it removed, but only lived a few weeks. Mine got a tumor a 1/2 a year ago and she is still alive. There isn't much point to remove partially cause rats only live two to three years anyway.

lol. Cute.

ya, I have the same issue with one of my rats. it's a little bigger than a golf ball. It only impedes his itching and walking a bit. The vet cost to look at it was $70 and they quoted me at $700 to remove it. Mr. Anderson seems happy enough and he is not in pain so why remove it. Plus ya the stress would be to much.

you should of had him put down instead of going threw alot of pain. aslo you should of left him in the cage

My rat now has a tumor too. It is better than what my fav. rat got. It got so 'gross' you couldn't play with her. :( So I have come to think that at least with tumors like that, you can still play with them. Sorry for your loss, they looked sweet!

yes i have. but i did't want vet to do the surgery- it could be stress for the rat and tumors can return anyway. so VICTOR lived as long as the weight of the tumor let him to move. he lived 5 months shorter then ABSINTH who died just from oldness. it was sad to see the tumor getting bigger everyday. he coudn't jump and run to quick... except those two things i couldn't find out any signs of his desease.
