Am I the only one who just ignores all this 'It's an Irish show/It's a British show' crap and JUST ENJOYS IT?
-
@russell111 He's obviously another dim fool who believes ireland is part of Britain.
-
@Cocoabine West Britain?
-
"Ardelle"???? LOLOLOLOL
-
They could have gotten so many better clips from father ted :L
-
Forgot to mention, of course, all the actors were Irish, most of them comic actors previously known only in Ireland.
-
It was a mixture.
The external shots for the Parochial House and Craggy island were all shot in Ireland.
The writers were both Irish.
However, Geoffrey Perkins (RIP) was British- and he was almost as important to the show as Declan Lowney, the Irish director.
All the internal shots of the Parochial House were in LWT studios London (where Have I Got News For You is also shot).
Channel 4 paid for it, and they're a UK station.

could not agree with you more. RTE are terrible and knowing them they would have strapped it down and beat it till it submitted to being just like everything else.... SAFE. but at the same time its 100% Irish!
-
U fukin handicap it is Irish I-R-I-S-H OK so fuk u ya dopey weirdo!
-
it is just irish as far as im concerned lol, but yes channel 4 comissioned it and some of it was shot in london but still it is an irish comedy!!.
-
@Soberirrishman Firstly, it was made by a British company. Secondly, a lot of the shots were filmed in England. So he's not wrong in calling it a British comedy, but I can see what you mean. It is Irish as well - its a mix.
-
father ted is irish not british you stupid yank!.

if rte had taken father ted it wouldnt have been as successful as it was. im glad that channel four gave it a chance but its annoying that the brits wont even let us take pride for the one sitcom.
