Spring of 2006 was an Epic time for Squaw Valley, USA. An incredible amount of snow fell in the upper elevations of the Sierra Nevada.
New airs and lines were opened this season by some of the best skiers in the
Tahoe area. This video shows people skiing lines that would be unskiable or
extremely technical in normal years.

I recall back in 1975 at Sun Valley (great place, BTW) asking a bunch of long-haired hipsters who thought they knew it all (as is always the case with dickhead hipsters) - as they kept repeating to each other, "The Bird" - as in Snowbird (another great place, BTW) sounding like Beavis and Butthead, if they'd ever skied Squaw, which I'd put in perhaps 2.4 million vertical to date and they said I didn't know what I was talking about.

Squaw has superb terrain, but Alpine IS all aound a better place to spend time on the mountain. No lines, no tourists, no shopping centers, or big lodge area to meander through, short walk to car, and has superb terrain as well.get yourself out to the Estelle lake area and tell me it doesnt.Or the backside from summit through Sherwood area. I am an Alpine junky to be honest, but Squaw gets 2nd.I love to sit a-top Alpine at the towers and look over to Squaw and say " theres squaw" =).Homewood?
