  • Very, very insightful. I've been running for 8 months now and I'm constantly dealing with shin splints. The thing I did when I started out running is reading a lot, so I learned to land on my forefoot. I thought this was better, but apparently I can overstride and land on my toes (which I probably do), causing more stress on my shins. Right?

I'll try to land more mid-foot tomorrow.

  • @Melopeed Overstriding and landing on the forefoot or midfoot is VERY common. People tend to think that it's all about what part of your foot lands first, which it's not. Overstriding, both on your forefoot or heel will cause the anterior tibialis to firs thus stressing the muscle which will result in shin splints.
