Sevylor SBM 18

I'm posting this because when i was thinking about buying the sevylor SBM 18 motor I could not find much of any useful info on it. While the motor feels a little toyish, it moves a 9' boat with one person in it quite well.

Does your Sevylor SBM 18 motor still work after a summer of use? I'm considering buying one and am wondering how long these things might last before they break.

Still works great. After using it in salt water I always hose it off real well and use a little salt away. I would strongly suggest this motor if you have a raft it fits on.

Hi I was just wondering how you mounted the motor? I didn't see a typical inflatable style motor mount, but it could be my eyes...

There is a little bar that slides into a couple mounts on the sevylor rafts. The motor also comes with a typical mount that will clamp on to a transom or mounting board.

Just got this same motor, but I the smallest sevylor, the 6ft 6'' caravelle. I am hoping that this motor will provide me with decent thrust and speed. If you have this motor, how is the acceleration from standstill to the highest speed?

What do you mean by speed and acceleration? It's not going to get on plane and pull a tuber. It has 2 speeds, slow and slower. But it does get up to slow pretty fast.

I just put it in a $6 battery box (from walmart) and put it in the boat.

where is the battery on that thing i got a similar raft and wanna put a motor on it but i cant figure out where the battery goes? help??

It says no salt water, but I use it in salt. I clean and flush it real well. It'll probably lead to a shorter life and void warranties, but oh well...

i just bought a savylor sbm 18 motor and im about to use it in a caravelle k 85 boat.The manual of the motor says that i can use it only in lake water did you filmed your video in a lake or is it at sea?????(can you please help me???)i want to know if i can use it at sea!!!
