CBS master 32032-1, rec. New York, 23 December 1941.
Dottie, Muriel and Marjorie Murphy (voc) with Carl Hoff's orchestra.
This WW II propaganda song was written directly after Perl Harbour and copyrighted just hours before the declaration of war. A first chart success for the in this case not quite as charming as usual Murphy sisters, who from 1943 on sang with Vaughn Monroe.

  • i thought the andrews sisters sung this?

  • As fas as I know, they never did - but the Andrews Sisters had a nice song called "Six Jerks in a Jeep" ...

  • Thank you for posting this important historical document. I used it for my thesis on animation propaganda for WWII.

  • It's great that you found it useful. I hope your thesis was well received?

  • I have just removed a comment that used this song as a vantage point to discredit a politician I am sure many people admire - especially Americans. Do not misunderstand me: I believe in free speech and the right of everyone to express his opinions. This song, however, I posted as a piece of history and not as an encouragement or a model of political discussion. If you have the need to say something, feel free to do so, but please do not insult people on a page I feel responsible for!

  • I did not post this to make fun of a war that meant the loss of millions of people - anybody who is sick enough to do that does not need my assistance, I guess. But this is an important document, as it is the very first more or less artistically expressed response to Pearl Harbour. Personally, I don't think things get better over the years - one just gets used to the facts. It may always be too early for this or, if you're a pacifist, too late to prevent it, but reminders can be useful ...

  • This is pretty catchy.

  • @smstew1 You fucking moron. That's how it was 70 years ago. This song was a direct result of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. At that time they were not too concerned about being politically correct towards them. What an asshole you are.

  • @smstew1 How? Did you even listen to the lyrics? It's just a song about America going to win against the Japanese in war. "Jap" is the worst word they say in the song. And even then that's not even a very harmful word.

  • This is the most racist song I ever heard

  • the only thing i like out of japan is the sushi and there technology, Toyotas, Subarus and there gardens besides that there all Tojo and japs hahaha anything is i have relatives who fought in ww2 and he still calls Japanese people japs lol so racist

  • you need to check your spelling

  • even though it would be considered a racist song today, it definitely is catchy

  • 1 person is a jap

  • love this song.

  • 1 person's a sap
