.308 Suppressed at 640y

Shooting Steel Larue Sniper Targets at 640 yards with a suppressed .308. 12 to 16 mph full value wind. 175gr SMK's out of a custom Remmy 700p and SRT Shadow suppressor.

THX. It wasn't a cold bore shot. It it was, I would add 1/2 min left and 3/4 minute down, for this rifle. I you document every cold bore shot on a different page in the log book in addition to the other shots.  That way you know where it is going to hit and adjust. Just like you adjust when you screw on the suppressor. With the suppressor, I add 1/2 min left adn 1/2 minute up in addition to any other calculations.

@dragracer222 Heh no problem. But one day if you decide to play with the big guns, you can also become an NFA dealer, I think its $2000 a year in SOT or "Special Occupation Tax", price changes depending on what your intention is. But you have to get rid of your machine guns and toys when you give up your license. But even still, that's a good 10 years at least of whatever guns and fun you want.

@dragracer222 In the US, yes. In Ohio, a quick Google tells me yes, but you'll need to double check. The reason you don't hear about it much is because the item must be made before 1986. Its like trying to buy a wine before 1986, rare and very expensive. For a normal M16/M4 lower, normal price runs $20,000 to $25,000. For belt fed machine guns or the M2 .50cal, could run upwards of $30,000 for civilian private ownership. And sadly no, those zeroes are not in the wrong place.

@BrianMDPhD well, im just a 16 year old who owns a couple nice firearms. i was just wondering, i doubt im gonna own anything near $6000 in my life, i plan to become a scout sniper in the marine corps so it was just an interest. now i have another question that u might be able to answer, is it legal to own a fully automatic firearm in the US or in the state of ohio, i can never get a straight answer. people say u need a permit and thats its fully illegal. but idk, if u could answer me that plz.

@dragracer222 It depends. We bought some cans at wholesale for $275, most are in the $800 range for large bore rifles. If your barrel is not already threaded, that is another $80, and $200 paid to the govt for NFA stamp tax. So you're usually looking around $1000 for a suppressor package, but if that improves groups on a $6000 rifle, what is "expensive" to you?

@02paintball01 I suppose that depends on your definition of "accurate", but the .308W is more than capable of 1200 yard shots. Beyond that and you're pushing the boundaries of reliable hits.
