John Pilger's documentary explores the historic and current relationship of Washington with countries such as Venezuela, Bolivia and Chile. Pilger claims that the film "...tells a universal story... analyzing and revealing, through vivid testimony, the story of great power behind its venerable myths. It allows us to understand the true nature of the so-called "war on terror". According to Pilger, the films message is that the greed and power of empire is not invincible and that people power is always the "seed beneath the snow".

Pilger interviews several ex-CIA agents who purportedly took part in secret campaigns against democratic countries and who he claims are profiting from the war in Iraq. He investigates the School of the Americas in the U.S. state of Georgia, where General Pinochets torture squads were reportedly trained along with tyrants and death-squad leaders in Haiti, El Salvador, Brazil and Argentina.

  • This isn't just about Latin America. It isn't about Iraq, or Afghanistan. It isn't about Russia, China or even the United States. It isn't about black, white, brown or yellow. It is about the people of the global being systematically enslaved for the benefit of their corporate masters and the puppet governments which they control the strings of. The day will come when the people of the world rise up and proclaim "We WILL NOT take this anymore!".

  • Thank you, Mr. Pilger

Such a powerful documentary, it feels good when people are awaken at the end of the day to protect their interest and their children's future.

  • Mucho Gracias John! I want tooo seeyouagain!

  • Its encouraging to see positive change but the price of this is a relentless angst and struggle. We all need to hold our western governments to account. The US isn't the country the founding fathers created long ago and in my opinion is the greatest threat to freedom, peace and true democracy around the globe. The peoples of the world are waking. Lets work hard to achieve justice, social equality and fairness for all.

  • I only hope democracy will spread from Latin America to Angloamerica, Europe and rest of the world.

  • Goni is the same type of pirate that runs the U.S., and we're getting sick of them too. We've had just about enough of them.
