  • You shouldn't put your finger near the safety guard. I've seen them break off and the needle punctures a finger.

It's a fake arm so there's nothing to palpate.

  • You are correct but this was a rubber arm used for demos.

  • Don't apply pressure when the needle is still in the vein, just hoover it over the site.

Also she kinda slapped the safety gaurd on there, if you do that then blood can shoot up, lower the needled downwards and then slide your finger over the safety. that way if the blood splashes it will be on the floor and not in your face or the patient's.

  • @Illyria23alyssa SAME THING I SAID SHE DIDNT PALPATE THE VEIN .

  • She didn't even tell you to locate or palpate the vein. Also, you're not supposed to pop the tube in before you start.

  • that look soooooooo easy when you do it

  • I like it somple and quick.

  • Thank u very much that was helpful.

  • I do this every day for a living and I would like to offer a protip: be very cognizant of the placement of the patient's arm. Keep it closer to his/her body or you'll end up in a situation where the hand is in your junk (see opening of video) and that's not good phlebotomy. You laugh now, but it's very real.

  • Great video. I'm in training now and my instructor did not let us know we can out the tube on before we stick. She has us go into the arm and insert the tubes one at a time. Its good to know we can do it this way when we get out into the field.
