This is the final lesson in what I meant to make just five lessons. This one brings together the two main fingerpicking patterns from the previous lessons. What you end up with is a 'pattern' that you might recognise from lots of picking songs.

  • Awesome videos man, such a help. I was just wondering are using all four fingers Thumb, Index, Middle and Little or are you playing the G string with your thumb, hard to see in the video. Thanks.

  • sorry about the delay in replying...I am playing the G string with my thumb. The idea is that the thumb alternates back and forth between the two bass notes (the low e string and the g string in this case) whilst the other two fingers are used for the other two strings - the middle finger for the B and the fourth finger (whatever that is called) for the high e string.

    I hope that helps...

  • are there any lessons for getting cleaner, sharper sound when you fingerpick?

  • I hate to make it sound simple but you really need to grow your nails. I'm not talking 'extreme' lengths maybe just 5/6mm beyond what you would normally have. Since you'll be playing at the same time as your nails are growing you won't notice it but the sound will become sharper.
