CBC's Marketplace examines homeopathy in this week's episode.

Homeopathic remedies take an ingredient — from a plant, animal or mineral — and dilute it repeatedly with water. The theory is that water retains the memory of the original ingredient. Practitioners say the more dilutions there are, the stronger the remedy.

Critics say homeopathic treatments do nothing, putting people in danger as they delay getting conventional medical treatments. Supporters counter that it works on everything from headaches to cancer, even if they can't explain why.

CBC asked a chemist with the University of Toronto to analyze two popular homeopathic remedies. Watch the full Marketplace investigation to see the results.

  • Fools! You're looking for chemical traces. H. is an energy medicine! Look at quantum physics you ignorant fascists… The proof is it's survival along two hundred years curing what allopathic medicine can't...

  • @zeldafan1313 Chemical traces are based on quantum mechanical effects, you "fool." Homeopathy hasn't cured a single, solitary case of disease that placebos couldn't "cure."

  • I believe in homeopathic medicine. You disbelievers can keep going to Drs. who prescribe medicine which doesn't cure you either. Drs. are the only people who can kill you and get away with it. I will take my chances with homeopathic remedies.

  • @trolias53 Interesting opinion! Thanks for contributing.

  • @trolias53 The water you drink have billions of things you don't expect them to have, even some radioactive materials, just in extremely small particles diluted in lots of water.

So if you want homeopathic medicine just ding water to ingest almost the entire periodic table of elements.

  • Great! You've proven H. has no side effects! Go get real drugs with aggressive side effects, you should be happy!

  • @trolias53

It has been conclusively proven that homoeopathy doesn't work.

If you reject real medicine, I seriously hope next time you're sick is not a lethal disease.

  • a vaccine must have a virus, if you do a homeopathic vaccine it'll (according to homeopaths) make the virus stronger by diluting it, if you diluted to much i guess it will kill you since it's so strong.

  • @1freedom101 ionized water, also known as acid.

  • HOMEOPATHIC VACCINES................ ROFLMAO XD

    THATS NOT A VACCINE!!!!!!!

A VACCINE HAS TO HAVE A VIRUS
