@Yingfighter True, but I still don't believe it's AS derogatory as 'bitch' is. Maybe it was in the time period Shakespeare wrote it to be, but this is obviously not the same setting so it just doesn't have the same effect. Besides, I hardly think Don Wei truly meant to insult her THAT badly, it sounds more like just a turn of phrase. Y'know, a saying.

@SilentlyFuming The whole point of "The Taming of the Shrew" was saying how women are small, weak creatures that should obey their husbands, so in a way, it is derogatory.

@Amberanimegirl A 'shrew' isn't the same as a bitch. He was making a reference to a Shakespeare play. (hence the title: 'The Taming of the Shrew') From what I know, it's also a comparison to a mouse or mole. Shrew isn't as derogatory a word as bitch.
