  • I suggest the following:

The pain of desire could not be cured by medicine

I didn't become better and grew no worse

How sweet are you lips O my enemy

Even your curses did not upset me

Nimrod may have set his ego against you O God, but

Did did my servitude to you, do me any good.

Recite a verse or so Ghalib, otherwise the (poets around)

will titter, Ghalib was completely tongue tied.

  • @TheHayyer Thank you so much for taking the time to translate this beautiful ghazal.

  • kjaan sahib there is no such rag name shudh puria dhanasri .THE name of this rag is puria dhanasri .iused the word shud because so many music directors in films do touch a note to make the tune more likable .i spent my life in singing film song and as i have learnt rag under aguru jee for 10 years so i know little about various rags .in this gazal khayam sahib were totally in rag puria dhanasri

  • @kk10061 Thanks for your comments.

  • pain did not become grateful to medicine

I didn't get well; [but it] wasn't bad either

How sweet are your lips, that the rival

[after] receiving abuse, did not lack pleasure

Does the divinity belonged to Namrood'?

[cause] in your servitude, my wellbeing did not happen

recite something, for people are saying

today “Ghalib” was not a ghazal-reciter

  • @rehanhanif1 Thank you so much for providing the translation if the ghazal. Wish you could do translation for my other ghazals. :).

  • Raag that starts at 2:41 thru 2:50 is unrepeatable,in other words no matter how much one practices wont even come close, even Taan Sen probably got chills after listening to that.

  • Perhaps this is the best song (Ghazal) composed by Khayyam and Rafi Sahib too looks at his best. Excellent application of classical music.
