Seoul Robert Park, a Korean-American, crossed illegally the border with North Korea on Christmas Day to ask Kim Jong-il and other Communist leaders to repent for their sins and freed North Koreans from slavery.
Before going off on his mission he said he had no wish for the US government to rescue him and that he would remain in North Korea until prison camps were closed.
