  • OH NO! BLUE PAC MAN WILL EAT OUR DNA!

  • @bourdvi Hmm ... Simplified steps for you. Hope it helps.

    1.) Virus infects host cell

2.) Host cell quickly tries to process the viral protein and package it together with its own MHC 1 molecule.

3.) MHC-Viral Peptide complex gets expressed on the cell surface

4.) [This is the amazing part] a T cell specifc for only that particular viral peptide recognizes and binds to it.

    5.) T-cell activation (upon confirmation of co-stimualtion)

6.) T cell: "Die virus infected cell bitch"

  • Mann! That just confused me even more! :(

  • I am working on a class project now and I must say that being able to see a microscopic concept makes it much easy comprehend. I'm actually excited to go to class tomorrow so I can talk to my professor about what I know. Thanks!!!

  • @bourdvi During development of the T-cell it produces TCRs (T cell receptors). The production of TCRs goes through 3 important steps

    1) reshuffling of genes - producing an antigen against pretty much whatever

    2) positive selection - if the antigen recognizes MHC it is kept, if not it is killed (MHC class I=>Cytotoxic, II=>helper)

    3) negative slection - if the antigen reacts to self cells it is killed, if not it is released.

This is how the T cells can produce antigens for unknown antibodies!

  • really great video!!!

  • I've been wondering this for a long time but if anyone could help it would me much appreciated:

How is the T cell's receptor made to fit perfectly the MHC class 1 molecule if it was the first exposition t the virus?

  • thanks a lot! i have my immunology exam today, but understanding from the books was ver difficult!! this makes me understand easily :)

  • Thank you! what a wonderful and easy to understand video!

  • AMAZING EXPLAINATION!!! I LOOKED EVERYWHERE and this is the bestestest!

  • haha, yeah. Awesome vid. great explanation. It's like sending in the special forces to blow up the dam to take out the zombie-infected town.
