A slideshow / video log of my climbing trip to Enchanted Tower in Datil NM on Sept. 11th, 2010, with my friends Steve, April, and Mandy.
The Enchanted Tower, a 110-foot-high semidetached spire and smaller satellite cliffs, offers more than one hundred excellent sport climbs that range in difficulty from 5.6 to 5.13+. Almost all the routes ascend vertical to overhanging rock using a variety of holds including pockets, huecos, in-cut jugs, and face edges. The routes, particularly on the Tower, are strenuous and pumpy, although good rests are found on most lines. The rock quality is generally good, although a few cliffs are somewhat loose and suspect. The cliffs, a long west-facing band, are composed of welded volcanic tuff. Besides
great climbing, other inducements to visit Enchanted Tower are its pleasant mountain surroundings, free camping, and friendly climbing scene.

Michelle, this is awesome. Great shots. And you definitely captured the essence of Steve. I inadvertently copied you this spring, even including the sped-up and aged film sequence. And Steve. It was intense deja vu watching your video. Keep up the good work!
