@draaier327 F-18 is much more advanced. Also F-18 is an all around better aircraft than the F-14 with the exception of dogfighting, but nowadays its more about precision Multirole aircraft Capable of putting bombs within a 3ft radius Which is exactly what an F-18 can do and what the Navy needs considering the fact that they cant put bombers with heavy payloads on carriers. plus the F-14 is outdated as a strategic dogfighter, the Air Force has Multiple planes that can sweep a F-14 out of the air.

Thanks for your answer HuAf1 but how is it with the radar I mean I read that russians radar has a reach of 100 mile and the F 14 radar has a reach of 250 mile is that true??

The F/A-18 SUPER HORNET is the modern version of F/A-18 and it can work together with other aircrafts in the air, I mean if one plane detects an enemy plane, the other planes can see it on their screen even if it's out of their radar range. However the F-18's operational cost is much cheaperthan the F-14's.
