This song finished 2nd in Making Your Mind Up on March 17. Cyndi had hoped to represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest in May.
A very nice ballad which would have been a good entry for the UK in Helsinki, and would surely have given Molitva (the winning entry from Serbia) a run for its money.
Other acts competing for the UK were:
Big Brovaz
Brian Harvey
Hawkins & Brown
Liz McClarnon
Scooch

  • The crazy thing is it was the british public who gave more votes to scooch.Absolutely ridiculous. Those who voted scooch have no music taste whatsoever.Well done to the sane brits who voted for this,Sadly though not enough did.Im sure this would have won.

  • @jaysea32

Agreed, I loved Scooch but I'm convinced Cyndi would have had a realistic chance of the top three.

  • Scooch sucks!

    Cyndi was the best!!!!!!!!!

  • It was such a shame that the Great British public picked Scooch. Whilst their song was great fun it was totally wrong for Eurovision. We will never know how well Cyndi might have done, had we sent her at least Eastern Europe could not complain that we sent a bad singer (as they usually do!)

  • This song was a blatant plagiarism of The Bonnie Banks O' Loch Lomond with part of the chorus from You Raise Me Up.

Check them out and listen to them against Cyndi's version. She would have been accused of plagiarism and UK would ultimately have been disqualified from the Final.

You'll have to use search bar with "The Bonnie Banks O' Loch Lomond" and "Josh Groban - You Raise Me Up" to find the songs. Let's hear what you've got to say after you've REALLY listened to all three.

  • Years later and I'm catching up with this comment.

Amazing voice and great mix of 2 songs.......and it SHOULD have one against the typical British trash the BBC send to Eurovision.

...........HOWEVER, I think there was some skullduggery going on that year (remember Wogan announced her as the winner then changed it). I think she probably DID win the uk vote but the BBC decided they may have a lawsuit on their hands if she was chosen to represent UK.

This song is a blatant plagiarism

  • I actually love this song.

How she didn't get to do Eurovision shows how CRAZY our country is!

  • This would have done absolutely better than Scooch! Luckily, the English took a lesson from this and sent Jade in 2009. Too bad they got back to crap this year :s

  • I don't know how is possible that she didn't win! UK sent crap Scooch...:-/

  • it didn't it came 2nd, Sweden's cara mia won.

  • for those of you who are unaware this song actually won the second chance eurovision song contest for songs that didnt make the televised stages. its alot more creditable anyways as its chosin by music judges, judges who really understand about music and not the public vote.

check it out , just enter sechuk into google and you should find it

  • Great song. Excellent. Don't know why Cyndi did not get enough votes to represent us.

Such a travesty. Never mind. At least this great song had been written, otherwise no one would be able to listen to it. Good luck in the future Cyndi. I'm sure you'll go far.
