At Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump in southwestern Alberta, Canada, Aboriginal people practiced a spectacularly successful form of group hunting for nearly 6,000 years before European contact.

These video interviews feature Jack Brink, the author of _Imagining Head Smashed In: Aboriginal Buffalo Hunting on the Northern Plains_, and other archaeologists who excavated the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Brink's book was published by Athabasca University's AU Press in May of 2008. For more information about this book and others from AU Press, please visit http://www.aupress.ca/

  • I know one thing for certain, Buffalo steaks are delicious. I suggest to those who haven't tasted Buffalo to give it a try, that is if you're not a vegetarian. The traditions spoken of here haven't changed in hundreds of years, which fascinates me.

  • Wisdom from an elder: Still have to fulfill one of my bucket list items which is working on a Indian Reservation. Who knows could be just around the corner. : Lone Wolf.

  • Elders are always blaming the kids for the lose of our language. when you know its their own fault and our mother and fathers. They don't try to teach us blackfoot from the day we start talking. They are too scared... after our elders and our parents are gone it will be gone for ever!! instead they are selling the language for studys at the Lethbridge univ. for white people to learn... wouldnt it be cool to hear our babies to speak our blackfoot language to us??

  • @HatedByZionists Meat keeps us grounded. We must eat a bit of everything that Mother Earth provides. Meat, fruit, and vegetables, and in balance. I see the end coming for Processed 'Food' since it has little to no real nutritive value and has been laced with the most poisonous ingredients which do nothing short of stunting growth, altering DNA and lowering I.Q.

  • @bigcree Typo on Strong.

  • @HatedByZionists Tribal ways are that string Mate. We share these today in the same way whether from Grandma and Grandpa or at Pow Wows, Ceremonies etc. extra care and attention is paid to making sure deviations and twists are not part of the Narrative , at least within reason.

  • @HatedByZionists I have eaten both pure Buffalo and the Hybridized version. Both are very good eating.

  • didnt they use the atlatl

  • @RU4freedom2 the meat is to be cooked medium. It is delicious, and taste much like beef, only more succulent, sweet, and a bit more flavorful.

  • So beautiful... Humility Respect and Honor ... such Grand Qualities to inhabit ...thank you for the share bigcree :-)

  • @joe80dman , indeed that`s what the score is! We have grown up already three times to this Imbecilic little Troll, who suffers from some very serious Personal Issues and cognitive functions.
