**************************

I keep my puddles ready to go as much as possible because I never know what I may need. You don't really want to copy from the picture, get your inspiration from there, but keep looking at the painting.

For this area in the hat - I really like it at this point. I was a little worried at first but the bleeding color gives it some interest.

Let's get some warm colors into the headband around her jaw area. I always rinse my brush, FYI.

It's very important for this edge to be dry in the face so that it will pop better. Let's reload with darker colors for the straps that hang down and that will be good for showing off the blond hair. Try not to go back and fix things too much.

Certain things happen along the way and you just want to let it happen. Let's get a touch of her hair connecting. For blonde hair you don't necessarily want to put yellow in so you have to be careful.

While I'm over here let's pull some of the shadow shape and the side of her shoulder in there and also to pick up some of the flesh tones. I'm trying to get as much done in that first wash as I can. Let it fade to white.

I want to get the rest of that ribbon in. I don't want to fool around too much, I want to pull it together and not be too distracting. Let your photograph tell you certain ways to go, but then let things happen.

  • Gorgeous painting by an extraordinarily talented painter, but the video started when the face was completed. I was looking for instruction, color mixes, how to do the shadows. Hardly any colors mentioned. Beautiful, but did not help me a whole lot.

  • stunning! just stunning!!

  • @vinnypap123456789 same here but there's a useful video on youtube for mixing titled: Mixing Specific Colours in Watercolours - 'Learn To Enjoy Colour Mixing' with Paul Taggart. You may want to watch that then refer to a color wheel from google images as you paint.

  • Beautiful, I love the way you painted this. I really love how you say not to copy the picture exact, let the paint do what the paint dose, it's own magic! great job!
