This is common treatment
for women in US jails

The is absolutely nothing unusual about women being stripped naked and left without covering of any kind in cold jail cells for hours at a time.

It's a popular humiliation technique used in corrupt police departments throughout the country.

If it weren't for this video, a TV local station's news report, and the Internet, no one would know that this particular event ever happened.

Keep in mind that this woman was a crime victim who called the police for help after she was assaulted.

The piece of self-propelled human garbage who runs this Sheriff's Department is Timothy A. Swanson.

He says - and I quote - that the thugs who work for him "did everything by the book.

CANTON A Stark County grand jury has found no probable cause that county sheriff's deputies committed any criminal acts while arresting Hope Steffey in 2006. The grand jury completed its investigation today and declined to hand down any indictments, according to a news release from the Ohio Attorney General's Office.

Cops need a warrant to search your house, but can video & force strip a woman arrested, but NOT yet convicted, for a misdemeanor????

And Chicago cops have been doing them for traffic tickets!!

Do we need to pass a law BESIDES our constitutional rights to stop this abuse???

@Toddlip A more accurate description would be to say that the Stark County grand jury was never given enough evidence to find probable cause. Because I know for a fact that the Stark County Sheriff's office withheld evidence from the state BCI investigators.

But then the "investigators" were never intent on gathering enough evidence to convict the officers anyway, and you can take that to the bank!

There is so much more to this that never made it to ANY news source....just one big coverup.

Huh? Then why did Steffey & witnesses testify at court that she was NOT drunk? Yes, she admitted drinking some beers, but also testified that the cops falsified reports about it

And where did you hear she was suicidal? Sheriff Swanson's seconds of highly edited audio? Steffey's deposition to GJ disputes this was even her

Did you also know that the state investigation found that she DENIED being suicidal THREE TIMES?

This would be a LOT closer to the truth! There was a LOT of stuff covered up in this case. Was the grand jury ever told that the sheriff's dept kept informants away from the state investigators during the "investigation"?

Did the grand jury ever know that the "missing" video was not missing?

@surgeithesinner : You are an idiot: If, they were concerned about her, they would have gotten her to a hospital. They left her bleeding with a head injury for SIX HOURS, in a cell. These deputies wanted to sexually assault her and torture her. I believe they, left her to die! Unfortunately, for these sexually sadistic deputies, got caught! Mrs. Steffey survived the sexual assault and torture. "They were saving her life" you are an idiot! Did you hear them laugh when they exited the cell?
