'Batman Returns' (1992) is the sequel to Tim Burton's succesful superhero film 'Batman'. Once again Bob Kane's masked crusader faces off with a colourful enemy.
A man who ascended from the sewers of Gotham City where he was raised by penguins. He was the only son of the rich Cobblepot family. But his parents were so disgusted by his physique that they threw him from a bridge. There in the icy waters young Oswald Cobblepot (Danny DeVito) became the Penguin, a tragic villain. Years later the Penguin kidnaps the corrupt CEO Max Shreck (Christopher Walken) and forces him to introduces Oswald to Gotham City. This is the aspect of the story on which the video centers.

'Batman Returns' is my favourite film of the Burton/Shumacher series. It's dark, twisted and complex. Especially Danny DeVito's character was gruesome and touching at the same time. The music is grander than Danny Elfman's first 'Batman' score. Very gothic and very dramatic.

Oh and before I forget! A merry Christmas to all of you and a happy new-year!

'Batman Returns' and its music belong to Warner Bros.
