Joy Division - Walked In Line (Warsaw)

All dressed in uniforms so fine
They drank and killed to pass the time
Wearing the shame of all their crimes
With measured steps they walked in line

They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line

They carried pictures of their wives
And numbered tags to prove their lies
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line

Full of a glory never seen
They made it through the whole machine
To never question anymore
Hypnotic trance, they never saw
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
They walked in line
Walked in line
Walked in line

  • is from joy division or from warsaw?

  • @noorbe1 Well, to make the long story short. Is Joy Division from a bootleg self title album "Warsaw". This particular track was recorded in May, 1978 just right after they changed the name to Joy Division. JD had their first gig under this name in January 1978.

  • the still version is better

  • @RATTTHEPUNK This is a raw "Warsaw" version as in original version the way it meant to be. The version from the Still album is more refine as from JD sound.

  • great video dud!

  • @michelJL76 Thank you all for the nice comments.

  • @gangrel2001 woaaah you r right brother..

  • he may have had epilepsy but i still believe he was a gifted dancer and those were not fits and youll never convince me otherwise

  • This song would also be good with clips from the film THX 1138

  • @noorbe1 Does it actually matter? Surely it's not the name that matters but the sound...

  • I love JD but Warsaw owns so f'n much!

  • And they changed it because of the punk band Warsaw Pact that was already established by the time JD came around.

  • Prefer this version to the still one. Probably because Ian hadn't yet sdopted his deeper singing voice at this point which I don't think suits this song.

  • funny how every 10 years the Metropolis reemerges as the most timely visual work.

  • this version is far superior in my opinion. The vocals in the chorus are unbelievably appropriate compared to the muttering in the later version.
