Funny, I get criticism for playing this too fast also.... Personally, I think songs like this are very flexible, and that different tempos provide insight into different aspects of the song.  I've learned to love playing this slow sometimes too (ala Getz/Gilberto) and I've even come to prefer that, but it's fun to play (and hear) uptempo as well.

I've always loved this song. I love your voice, and i really hate to add criticism, even if it is constructive, but the tempo was too fast. If you could get your piano man to play it more slowly, your beautiful, soulful voice would have a chance to shine here even more, i promise you it will.
