  • @S1337ghost Nope, that's just one use of the high dynamic range. What you described is one form of tone mapping, which is used to display high dynamic range images on low dynamic range devices. What is shown in the video, is known as "adaptive exposure rendering." The HDR image is sampled in some key locations to compute the current exposure and the tonemapping is adjusted accordingly. This simulates what happens when you look at something very bright and then at something dark.
