I have watched Mr. Johnson work on quite a few knives. Very impressive. He is the real deal.

I have 3 Hastings knives.
Reading about Don Hastings was what got me started forging blades.
Now only Bill Bagwell remains of the original 3.
A properly forged knife will do amazing things, I know I make them.
It's great to see an old Timer like Ray is still going.

Have talked to Ray several times. Was a tool and die maker before his stint at SDC. Deffinetly knows his craft.

for the strongest damascus use O-1 tool steel , S-2 recycled jackhammer bits and mild steel. Dr. Ray Rantanen retired NASA rocket scientist makes the strongest damascus I know.
