  • mhc seattle, I hope you post more videos of this length. For those of us who live outside your area, these sermons/videos are much anticipated and most welcome. Pastor Mark's preaching causes frequent, personal self-examination followed by conviction of sin. I need this!

  • "religious people are notorious for overlooking their own sin" So true. Some of the meanest people I know are religious people.

  • This reminds me A LOT of the "Good Person Test" by Ray Comfort at Living Waters.

Very nice to see the two of them agree on Repentance this much :)

  • Although I'm with you, I'm not sure I agree with you about Confession with a priest......

Properly done, the priest is not there as an authority figure but as a spiritual guide to explore how I can avoid future sin be directed into a holier way of living.

  • go mark!!

  • @lombardoson Thanks, I have found them and look forward to many hours of productive listening!!!

  • @hyacinthdew Every sermon, in its entirety, can be seen/heard at the Mars Hill Church website. Enjoy!

"your last response is a joke, right?"

    nope.

Jesus was the only one who never sinned. No where in the bible does it say we will never ever sin after we become a christian, in fact, it says that if we say we have no sin we are liars 1John 1:8).. so, your view that we should automatically be 100% christlike in all circumstances is to place too heavy a burden on us. Its just not the reality, my friend. We do have struggles and we do sin. But you're right, we should strive to obey God.

  • @michelle2ch you're last response is a joke, right?

  • @99minerkc

But you could also argue that IF an "ALL powerful" deity exists, then babies would grow to adulthood in 18 minutes rather than 18 years, because you happen to think that would be a better way of God doing things. But you and I can't impose what we think is a better way of doing things. Its not our universe. =)

  • continued here: Remember, we're talking about an "ALL powerful" deity(creator of the universe)dwelling within you! Again, as stated before, if it's a man made religion, of course what you say will take a lifetime and even then you won't be able to achieve it! Anyway, I don't disagree with what you say except for one thing! My claim is that religion is all man made and you claim otherwise!

  • @michelle2chat I don't think you see where I was going. You seem to be caught in religion! When(if)jesus was ministering there was no christianity, nor sanctification, etc! You're talking of man made concepts! I simply said IF jesus' spirit(super natural)actually physically dwelled within you, the idea that it would take a lifetime(or anywhere near that time)to emulate jesus is silly! continued:
