The Metropolitan Police Band was conducted by Lt,Col. Duncan Beat in its later years (Terry Kenny directed the Royal Corps of Transport Band not the Police Band) In its earlier years the band consisted entirely of serving police officers and its musical directors included Roger Barsotti, Major W. I knew a PC who used to play drums in the Met Police band back in the early 1980's. To be honest he was a bit of a tool, but that's no reason to disband the band. Am I right in thinking that Terry Kenny was Director of Music for a while? I seem to remember him being featured on "Friday Night is Music Night".

What a shame. As a serving Officer in the Met I would love to get it up and running again. Self funding if need be. Food for thought....

I was in the band at this time.
Sad that this is all that remains of the Metropolitan Police bands illustrious history.

@TheTeamTweedy The band was dis-banded due, no doupt, to government cuts.
