@zRqDz Funny how you took that "COD" reference to heart. It wasn't my point...i could've said MOH instead..doesn't matter. I actually think COD is an entertaining game with a fun story line. My point is that your "knowledge" of special opeations and Infantry forces in general, isn't based on anything except for your experience in games, movies, and maybe some research that you've taken out of context. But I can't blame you, seeing as how I was the same way at 18, before the Marine Corps.

Good riddance, should've done it before being deployed.

@zRqDz And here's a little dime about MSOB Marine Special Ops Battalion (MARSOC is their headquarters) ....they are modeled after Army SF units. ie, they have a DA company, an amphibious company, and R and S company, but the first company a new operator will spend their time is in their A-teams. Those are modeled after Army SF ODA's. Their sole purpose is to train and equip foreign commandos (currently the ANA- Afghan National Army commandos) and lead them on missions. There you go.

@zRqDz Marine and Army infantry have their own AO's (Area of Operations.) The Marine Corps has Helmand Province, and ONLY Helmand Province. Each grunt battalion is assigned to one district within that province. The Army, is assigned almost everything else in theather, especially the East/Northern Provinces. You're looking at this as far too much of some kind of a formula. ALL SOCOM units are extremely flexible, and have their own respective AO's. Kid, you play too much COD.

@zRqDz "behind enemy lines" what the FUCK are you talking about kid? There are no "lines" nowdays. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Ranger Battalion, have different companies dedicated to different missions. They operate wherever they are needed. Period. My point was that they deploy for 3 months at a time, because they tend to have a very high op tempo, that includes raids on HVI's, and holding cordon for Teir 1 Units. Every SOCOM unit has their own QRF, and "reconnaissance". Also, both (continued......)

@joeberger Rangers see a lot more combat in very high risk zones. If you want to Capture someone covertly or rescue a hostage, you send in MARSOC for Reconnaissance, and then carried out by Navy SEALs. If you want to complete a mission in high risk areas behind enemy lines, you send in the Rangers. If you want to Fuck up the Frontlines and destroy shit, you send in ground and pound Marines. If you want something protected and defended, you send in Army Infantry.
Let's not forget about the poor guys that come back to find out that their wife/gf has been screwing around while they've been getting shot at (that would suck to come home and find out). Wife in the video looks like a partier.
