Charlie Angus on CBC and patronage

This short video describes the single issue that would fix the CBC: governance reform. I paraphrase from Charlie Angus some information he revealed at this public forum. Did you know that Canada is the only country in the western world with a public broadcaster whose board of directors is appointed by the Federal Government? All other public broadcasters actually serve the public and are not beholden to the government of the day. Did you know that $60,000 of the CBC budget is withheld until January of any year? How critical of the Federal government do you think the CBC will be if their own budget and board of directors is directly controlled by the government?
