Kilbourne's Hole is a gigantic crater southwest of Las Cruces, NM caused by molten magna colliding with underground water resulting about 50,000 years ago in a huge explosion slinging lava bombs for 1000s of yards. Gems like peridot and even obsidian are everywhere.
