To say in the description that "a cricket ball has never been hit so hard" is hardly accurate. Most balls that go for six were hit harder, so Greenidge himself hit it harder plenty of times. And people like Viv Richards, Ian Botham, Shahid Afridi (and probably Greenidge and lots of others) have hit straight drives that reach the boundary much faster.

I agree. What a player. I feel insulted when I hear how great Hayden and Langer are, not even close. Especially the 226!!

Classic Gordon and also Classic Richie understatement on that. "That's a fine shot". No operatic hyperbole there. As he's always said, the most important piece of advice he ever got on TV commentary was "if you can't add to the pictures don't say anything". By the the mid 80's he'd reduced it to "Shhhot", which he said plenty of times while Desmond and Gordon we're dismantling our attacks in Australia. "Shhhot" was also repeated plenty of times in backyards.
