Is Gm still associated with Oil Companies ? If it is this hi-wire car model could just be another tease.

we should have had cars ike this back in the 70's already on the mass production line.. or even earlier... And why add the electronics in there... hm.. maybe to boost the price up like tenfold!!! And make everybody prefer the good ol' cars that just drive over this one so they would be able to continue ripping people off and selling them gas.. And all of that is still IF they decide to release the car!

"gm intends to release the HY wyre in 2010"
We are almost in 2010 and i dont see the car.
And the price must be the double of a normal car.

This is interesting to track. GM's projection date was said to be 2010.
I called a GM Salesman Dec 31-09 to see if the Hy-wire would be out in 2010 & he never even heard of the Hy-wire. LOL.

But the Volt is expected on the market in 2011
We'll see how that plays out or if it's another sham operation like with the EV-1

Now a Dec "How stuff works" article reads:
In this article, we'll look at one interesting vision of the future, General Motor's remarkable concept car, the Hy-wire. GM may never actually sell the Hy-wire to the public, but it is certainly a good illustration of various ways cars might evolve in the near future.

!!!!
Well that's an interesting statement.
GM may never sell this car to the public.
!!!
Why would that be?
Ok, this gets my mind working. Perhaps nowadays all someone has to do is design a working model of a device that will destroy the Arabs oil business then just pay me 2Bil per year not to put this into production... Fascinating.

Why don't all the rich oil company's buy a huge chunk of land in Siberia, take all they're political buddy's in Congress with them, and build their there play ground there!! And take all the pharmaceutical company's with them!

What a nice Country we'll have here without them crooks!

The Sleeper, classic stuff! LOL
Seriously though, we shouldn't be using wheels at all.

3:34 - Look at how simple and modular this car is. Such a design would allow even the least mechanically inclined of individuals to repair the car at home with only a simple set of tools and the necessary spare parts, provided they have one of those frame lifters to lift the body from the chasis. Auto mechanics and their labor unions would definitely not like this. Perhaps that's one of the things that killed this project.
