Tough, sexy, funny and heartbreaking, Lillies details the lives of Iris, May and Ruby Moss - Catholic sisters coming of age in a dockland terraced house. Familial love sustains them, and their fortunes are bound to those of their brother and their father. Set in the years immediately following the First World War, Lilies pulls no punches in its storytelling. It depicts a sensual, vivid and sometimes savage universe - where life is lived on a knife-edge of poverty, fuelled by various kinds of love. Dadda, the family's charismatic and mercurial father married very young, is now widowed, and his struggle to nurture his unruly children proves both moving and comic.

  • This gets me annoyed. Lilies was an amazing series - so different from the rubbish that is now on our tellies but they axed it because it wasn't attracting enough viewers. It wasn't attracting enough viewers because they put it on at the wrong time. The BBC is supposed to cater for the minorities well aren't we the minority? BRING BACK LILIES!!!!!!!

  • We should start a Lilies fan site on face book and force the producers to continue making it

  • Beautifully cast, acted. written and produced. A first in class BBC production which, sadly never took off with a wide enoough audience.

  • @DAndraDreams so true!

  • @ouihotpot Awwww but how are they going to continue Lilies without Mr. Brazendale? He is a douchebag but he is a must, I love the silly May with him...

  • This is sooooooooooooooo good! I've never heard of it so I'm in for a treat...

  • Good show. It is much better than anything they show on American TV. It sad they cancelled it.

  • yes typical of the BBC. Me and my mum loved watching this. mum died a little while ago so this had brought back many happy memories for me. thanks so much for posting this, i shall look foward to watching the rest of the series i hope its all on here.

one day maybe the BBC will bring it back........ well i can dream xxx

  • The accent is all wrong. That's a modern Scouse accent really only heard from the 80's onward.

The old Scouse accent was much warmer and more Irish sounding. Think John Lennon, paul McCartney.

This is a scally accent. Would not have been heard in the early 1900's.

  • @TeagzOnline I concur
