I was on this call. I'm the second hose line that came in later. This is a volunteer department that is at the mercy of who shows up. Many times we have to do things a little off of protocol from being under staffed. I don't know who was "engineer"that day, but it's usually who ever fills the spot (scary). I've since gone to the fire academy and learned a lot of things we should do differently. These guys have other full time jobs. They do the best they can to protect the community

@david21911 the one where shit happens

That's why you always have a buddy for support holding the hose behind you. After he makes a fool out of himself trying to be the hero, his buddy decides to saunter over and help out. Makes us all look bad.

@FFEMTPMF I would've taken a bat to his phone.
-
@FireCaptE9 I hear ya, we had a house fire one time and the "pump operator" injured two guys by jacking the pressure way too high cuz he was too busy on his phone gettin baseball scores.
-
@SCFD388 exactly..you can hear the problem as well as see it.....Some "pump operator" , and I use that term loosely, would have gotten a good ass chewing after this fire..
-
@Thorpe741 Firemen get killed by having one guy on a line at a CAR FIRE? Really?! Let's call a second alarm for manpower, and put HAZMAT and ATR on stand-by, just in case.

Pride is his pay...
