Rejecting race signifies action, no? That means that it has to be talked about and demystified and then rejected. This is just the tip of a very important issue that dominates our society. Anyone who sees this as a propagation of white guilt is sorrily mistaken about how they identify with the ruling class, who also happens to be majority white. Not all whites experience privilege the same and you cannot have a functioning racist system without the oppression of poor whites.
