This project is currently applied in Altenburg germany in the former DDR.
from 1850 till 1915 mining for brown coal has been done at a depth of max 60 meters.
All these former mines have to be refilled with cement / grout, at this point there is none till a bad administration of what has been refilled in the 40's. To avoid land sliding (in 2009 a whole village experienced a landsliding which damaged houses, infrastructure and the enviroment)
BTR (german drilling company) has got the task to sample (4") till 60 meters to determine were the old mines are, as soon as determined they will install a steel casing for the crew to refill the old mines.
This project has been carried out with CompactRotoSonic. BTR's crew has sampled trough brown coal, stiff clays, dry sands, brickwork, wooden bawls, iron structures. They have found toothbrushes old beer bottles etc. Average was 2- 4 holes a day depending on accesibilitty of drilling area.
Holes are sampled in villages, woods, farmer lands etc. For more info visit www.sonicsampdrill.com
