Natasha is a semi-pro barrel racer in Alberta Canada. Scooter is a hot blooded paint who would never stop in a halter, hackamore or snaffle bit. She skeptically brought him to the Nurtural Bitless Challenge at the 2009 Calgary Stampede.

These challenges take place in 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes shows what this horse and rider can do in their regular bit and bridle. Then we switch them for the first time ever to a Nurtural Bitless Bridle. They have up to 5 minutes to practice, then must repeat everything they did in the bit. The audience scores bitted and bitless. You be the judge!

  • Funny thing about Bits and Bitless. I can ride my gelding bitless, in a rope hackamore, and people at horse shows freak at me for it. I ride the same horse in a D ring with rollers and have an equally sensitive horse. Personally I would not use a nutural horse bridle, because as I previously stated in another video, My horses are not responsive to it. In fact,It pushes their head up, and I need a low headset, not a bashed in head. My barrel horse just changes to bitless in pleasure.I bit in speed

  • Hi!

Did you contact us to solve the heads-up problem? That is invariably from fitting the bridle too tight at the back.

We always work with customers to solve problems - if they contact us and are willing to work with us.

Often they send photos for us to check.

You will see examples of proper and improper fitting at our web site nurturalhorse.

If anyone has problems, all you need to do is call or email to resolve them!

  • is that nylon or beta material?

  • @MoonPowergirl

This is beta, also called biothane. It is a rubber coated webbing. Very durable and easy care.

  • where do I get this bridle? And do they have other colors?

I have a bio black on but want ones with color

  • Hi! Check out the nurturalhorse web site. Or search Nurtural Bitless Bridle, or just Biltess Bridle - we are high up on the list.

We have lots of colors to choose from!

    Cheers! Zoe

  • I'll have to switch over to one of these.

  • All I see is Scooter's head being way higher set with this so called nurtural thing on it's face.. How about just learn to have super light hands while riding so you don't have to pull and jerk your horse around? ...just as good.

  • @HeartsNHooves I'm not talking about the hackamores with a shank on them.. I'm talking about the ones that just a rings on the noseband where you would clip the reins and they arent effective at all. I use a bit all the time because I mainly do speed events-barrel racing- and since I have a high powered rodeo horse theres not much you can do. The bitless bridles are VERY expensive to because I looked at buying one one time and said forget it. Plus I like my classic leather with studs not this.

  • @116jewel Hackamores are very effective. They can't hurt the horse if you know how to use them properly. I do pleasure classes in them, but I also ride with one at home. I use a bit when doing speed events, thats all. So he knows the difference between run and collect at a show without trying to figure out my nerves.

  • Ok thanks I will have to get one soon!
