i wbelt.as there with tiny, glenn, shawn, duane, franklin, cecil, twila, leeche, and L.T. plus donald george, from 72 to 75, and 79 to 81, remember bill, L.T.s first black
@TimeStrider Tiny died long time ago and Tiny called the art Haumea Lefiti, never ever heard the art called splashing hands by Tiny or any of the Students including Sifu L.T. Davis. As for Mr. Mcneil I remember seeing him once and only once come to the school on Florence street but he didnt take class- I was told he was either in the military or was a private student that was like in 1976- No disrespect but Mcneil's version is not what I saw or learned, looks kinda soft and not very clear IMO
@6962monkey Are you talking about the McAfee family Joey and Kantee, had a sister and mother that trained too? They both received their black belts from L.T. Davis who was Tiny's top student while the school was still at 50 Florence Street there was also Carl who we used to call Hershey who took over the school when it moved up the street. Last line I had on Joey is he was working for LA Unified and I believe Carl is still teaching somewhere in LA. Thats all I got.
Sorry to hear of Master Lefiti's untimely death but this looks curiously like 'Splashing Hands' Kung-Fu. If that's the case then Sifu James Mcneil is another martial artist who studied under Lefiti who teaches this art.
Sad news has come to Limalama, GM Tino has passed away last week. Now there are only two men left who started Limalama in the 60's.We all will miss Tino and for us who are left behind, we will carry on the tradition of Limalama. I will remember this creator of America's martial art. Bless GM Tino and his family and the family of Limalama.
Very cool video. I had heard of Tiny Lefiti for years from various people who knew him and students of theirs, but never saw footage of him until this video. Thanks very much for sharing.
I am very happy to have found this video of Tiny. I trained a short time at the Huntington park gym. He was a great man. He told some great stories of the shock he had when he saw girls dancing in Hawaii using our moves. He showed me a newspaper article of, I believe it was his grandson getting jumped for his bicycle by bigger kids, that did not go well for those kids. I was lucky to have known this Great man and great teacher.
first time I have seen the footage I grew up training and fighting at Tiny's old school on Florence street in Huntington prk in So Cal then run by his top student the late Lt. Davis back in the late 70's there was a wall sized portrait of Tiny on the wall like he was watching us. Ah the great young days of training
