Neil Armstrong was a civilian test pilot assigned to test the X-15 rocket airplane before becoming an astronaut in 1962. He made his first space flight in 1966 on Gemini 8 with David R. Scott.

On July 20, 1969, Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed the Apollo 11 lunar module Eagle on the moon. Armstrong left the module and explored the lunar surface.

  • @MattBlak1 So in conclusion - Hoax people; just go away. You are achieving nothing of use, just like those who claim there is no such thing as climate change. You are wasting energy and time on a cause that is lost and very, very incorrect. It serves no purpose. You are smarter than that or you can become smarter. Your choice.

  • Guys, if abusive comments keep up, then they'll comments for this video and similar. Having said that - Hoax guys; look you're not converting anyone to your phony, silly cause. Anyone who believes Apollo was a hoax is at best misled & uninformed - at worst; dishonest, deranged or worst of all, they DO believe in Apollo but they want to spread mischief and are jealous of a previous generations achievements and feel hatred that they have nothing similar in their lives and era. Or not. Screw it!!

  • wow

The descent stage had 20 seconds of fuel left. The ascent stage had its own fuel supply which would send it back into orbit to dock with command module. Once docked the ascent stage was discarded -- either sent into the sun or sent into lunar orbit. They flew back in the command module which was orbiting all that time with a lone astronaut. Lonely and scary, eh? Especially being alone on the dark side. These guys had balls of steel. The descent stage was left on the moon.
