Congressman Connie Mack (R-Fl 14), a frequent contributor to FOX Business Network's "Freedom Watch" with Judge Anthony Napolitano, appeared again on the program to discuss the showdown over the debt crisis. Judge Napolitano asked Congressman Mack about his views on the plans currently before Congress, those of Democratic Senator Harry Reid, which would raise the national debt by over $2 trillion, and that of Speaker of the House John Boehner. Mack stated that he did not believe it feasible to vote for ANY plan which could not balance the budget, pointing out that the United States would have roughly $17 trillion in debt regardless of the plan selected to the roughly $2 trillion it takes in in the form of taxes and revenue. Congressman Mack likened the United States to a financially overstretched consumer, and expressed incredulity as to how the system could even attempt to continue "business as usual" when confronted with the numbers.
