charbroiledmonk1033: The ducks is just the beginning. Next one is you and your family. This is what greenpeace is worried about. But this view is probably too much for your brain capacity.

NoEoAoRo: Demands are not driven by the consumers. This view is from the 17th century.
You might do some research on the matter and you will find out WHO is creating demands. Sure not the ones who are paying for products, but the ones who are gaining profits from them.

If you drive a non-electric car, use a disel powered bus system, buy food grown more than 2 km away from the place you bought it, or buy anything packaged in plastic (what isn't), shut up about our oil industry. Your demand drives it. If you wish to do something about it, cut your hydrocarbon consumption. Until then, SHUT UP YOU HYPOCRITES.

lol greenpeace whines about this, of course. Its fricken 500 ducks. Big whoop. maybe if it was actually making a serious dent in the population then somebody would give a shit. The oil sands are a good way of weeding out the stupid ducks, so natural selection can take its course. Ahhh, nature.

and stop acting as if i have no concern for the environment.. i am very concerned about the environment and i can understand your frustration.. at the rate this is going this will lead to environmental destruction of catastrophic propotions.. what is going on is wrong.. but change is going to happen.. it has to and they are just starting to realize it.. but its not as if it can happen with the snap of a finger.. it takes time.. it took a long to time to get in this mess in the first place

the oil in canada might be the driving force for the canadian economy but it is no where near big enough to even make a blip on the radar of the world economy.. we have roughly 32 million people in canada compared to 6 billion in the world.. you actually believe our economy would effect such a vast population? get real... now the american economy/dollar which ios the international trading currency.. if that is effected.. that would definitely hurt the world..
