Thanks for the reply! I posted a video of my interpretation of Jim O'Rourke's, "The Workplace" in open G. I thought I had it close to correct until I saw a video of Jim playing in a different way lol. it is frustrating to say the least! Sliding is difficult to learn for sure! Thanks for taking the time to answer Andrew. Thanks for the lessons as well, they are awesome and loved your analysis of Coldplay and Satriani!

Andrew, your lessons are awesome!
I was wondering if you could maybe touch on two subjects.
1) Slide technique.
2)Alternate tunings.
One of my favorite songs is by a band called "Big Wreck" and that song is "Under the Lighthouse". This song incorporates the best slide solos I've ever heard as well as alternate tuning.
How do you figure some of these tunings out and how does one learn the slide technique used in the song?

Hello testekleez,
I'm actually not much of a slide player, but the little I do is more blues based than anything. And, figuring out alternate tunings can be very time consuming and require a very good ear. You have to listen carefully for open strings in the song, plus judge the intervals of notes you locate in the piece. It isn't easy, and often I've gotten the tuning wrong - lter correcting them.
