  • This isn't working for me. Very frustrating.

    Rebooted and relogged.

Using Ubuntu 11.04, logging in under Ubuntu Classic so it uses gnome 2, not unity.

The settings under gconfig are stored and saved, but it's like they aren't being applied.

hmmm. dunny why.... this was on mint 11 which is based on 11.04. And I don't have ubuntu anymore to test it out again. bugger

  • @Linux4UnMe Grawr that's frustrating :l

I've managed to hide it acceptably though. I removed all icons, unchecked the "expand" node so it shrinks down, set it to autohide = 1 second, and I set the time to 10,000 seconds before it reappears when the mouse waves over it. It's still a 1 pixel line at the bottom, but awn covers it.

I want it gone for 3D desktop, the background is transparent so you can see all other desktops at the same time. The panel makes a giant 1 px line across the screen

  • I don't like to remove gnome default setting in mint so when I use avant I just right click on gnome main panel and go to properties and check the box that says arrows on hide buttons and click the arrow on either side, its so much easier and will not mess up anything in gnome perfect for a beginner!

  • @HHO4ALL

    Yeah cheers for that

  • @Linux4UnMe You can download cairo dock from the software repository. Then go to accessories and select Cairo Doc. Once it opens, you right click on the dock at the bottom of the screen and select Themes. You will see about 20 different themes, but the Mac OSX theme is identical to the one that you would find in a Mac OSX operating system. It is very easy to add or remove icons (drag n drop).

If you want to make your system more mac-like google macbuntu.
