"Flames will leap high into the night sky"

FireDance is an incredible performance of dancing flames choreographed to music, the likes of which has never been seen in Australia before.

Using 40 jets of flame higher than a three-story house, FireDance will explode 5 times a night every night of Vivid Sydney -- making Campbells Cove in the Rocks, the world's biggest campfire.

Choreographed to music using the same technology that controls the Harbour Bridge fireworks every New Year's Eve, FireDance will feature two different shows, alternating between each other on the eighteen incendiary nights of Vivid Sydney.

The spectacle of dancing fire in this intimate harbour arena will erupt every hour from 7pm for 6-7 minutes as some 40 firejets flare and flame in a choreographed balletic performance to the magic of Stravinsky's Firebird Suite and the Katy Perry hit Firework, remixed by renowned artist Peewee Ferris.

FireDance uses a pressurised non-toxic hydrocarbon liquid in its FireJets, and its poetry and warmth will be felt literally tens of metres away.

Fire is of course the primordial source of artificial light, and one of the great factors in human social and technological evolution.

Vivid Sydney is proud to have such a beautiful and dramatic celebration of fire's magic as a centrepiece of this year's 'light component'.

FireDance is produced and created by Howard & Sons, a fourth generation family business and leading exponents of flame-projector technology.
