Good demo, but you should not perform that over the heart area without a pad, the other techniques are ok to do but not the inch energy over the heart area. It is like high impact chest compression which can and do bruise the heart.
my shifu hits me a lot, but i endure it, makes me stronger......but i guess every shifu has his own way of passing knowledge, none i think is worthy to question unless he is already doing something which is completely outside the true essence of why we learn wing chun....
He does an excellent job here. Your comment too was a point I wanted to make. And finally, no doubt he can deliver more force but killing your students is not good etiquette. ;-)
One more thing, the punch is not an upper body delivery but the entire body as it connects with the floor and in a split second conveys huge power. This is about alignment and trained strength and most of what makes a true one inch punch possible is not visible to the eye. Plus 4 inches is not one inch.
What you are demonstrating in the beginning of this video is the one inch punch of jeet kune do, in Wing Chun you always face your opponent and have no sideways stance, which Bruce Lee had while demonstrating the one ich punch.
Well i will take this opportunity to correct your views on 1 inch punch. 1 inch punch is thrown not on the opponent but through the opponent. And 1 inch punch dont just push the opponent back but can do fatal harm if projected at proper places of the body. Mainly 1 inch punch in thrown in Trapping range,I would say during the application of Chi-Sao/Sticky Hands, Its a devastating weapon in trapping range, where moments are restricted because its very necessary to keep close contact with opponent
The basic idea is, from static to extreme speed(strength doesnt matter yet), when u reach the opponent, use ur brute force, or best if u know martial arts u can align ur body weight(or strength) from the tip of ur foot to the tip of ur hand and "Push" the opponent few feet away. Correct me if im wrong, cos this is what i do ;P
and 1 inch punch is useless. Just for showing that u know martial arts.
It nice and strong but its about 134 pounds of force. Which is good for a short ranged thing but not enough to knock some one out. 3 inch punch however is around 200 something pounds which is close but still not enough for a knock out.

@shukaku Actually 1inch punch isnt really hard.
