Using the Plate of Truth I tested the lead removing properties of several gun solvents. Below is which solvent I used on each square:
3 - Outers Foaming Bore Cleaner
4 - Pro-Shot Copper Solvent IV
5 - Remington 40-X Bore Cleaner
6 - Remington Brite Bore
7 - Ballistol
8 - Smith & Wesson Bore & Action Cleaner
13 - Hoppe's No. 9
14 - M-Pro 7
15 - Hoppe's Elite
16 - Butch's Bore Shine
18 - Birchwood Casey Blue & Rust Remover
@camosuperman more important if you use too much wd 40, it can soak in around ammo primers and deactivate your ammo. i have to use it - WD 40 - on some of my guns, that are coated with Alumahyde 2because its the only cleaner that wont eat the finish. But i dry it off real well before i put any ammo near it.

Thank you! I like science!
I realize this couldn't test everything, and you're going to get complaints that you didn't try this or that. I wish this test included my new favorite bore cleaner - Bore Tech Eliminator. I know it works very well on carbon fouling and lead fouling, and it seemed at least OK on lead but that was more of an informal observation. It's odor free, which I love.
