I think your ex-fiancee was smart to want to drive into Aspen. My stepdad was the captain of the G4 that crashed while attempting to land in Aspen/Pekin County, 2001. He was a very experienced an cautious pilot too.

I always wanted to land in Aspen, but my ex-fiance was too scared to do this, so we had to endure the drive from Denver, wonder why he is my ex?? Michele
