Phil Longman of the New America Foundation, talks about how was asked by Forbes Magazine to write an article about the "Jack Welsh of Health Care." As he researched the topic, he was astounded to find that the VA kept popping up on multiple lists of best care. He wrote " Best Care Anywhere: Why VA Health Care is Better Than Yours" documenting his findings - and the role that VistA played in the organizational transformation of the VA.

He stresses that VistA is more than just an electronic record system, but rather a new model of health care based on advanced information technology.
