Live in the UK Have our 3 Cooters in a 200 litre tank, had them for 3-4 months now smallest shell is 2inches biggest is 2 1/2 inches. We have 7Black Neons, 2Plecs(help keep tank clean) and 1Baby Mollie in the tank, turtles haven't bothered the fish as yet but i'm sure they will once they get bigger. Feed the Cooters once a day at the moment - greens like lettuces being the main part of there diet they also have pellets, shrimp, prawn, fruit being a few examples.

Have a Fluval 205 external filter, we use an aquavac to clean poo and bits of food from the bottom of the tank and do water changes once a week removing 1/4 - 1/2 the water when doing so. 2 air features in the tank to oxygenate the water. The turtles love to hide out behind the plant or in the log were they sleep in and bask on. got digital thermometers to monitor water temp and basking spot temp.

please comment or leave suggestions. thankyou.

  • That looks like a yellow belly

  • its not a yellow belly it looks like a penste cooter what gallon is that????

  • what type of catfish do you have

  • What size is that log? small, medium, or large?

  • @KevinIsM8ig its a yellow belly

  • um,can someone tell me if mine is a yellow belly slider or a peninsula cooter?

how old are they?nice setup :)

finally someone who doescare for his turtles, lots of ppl buy those "islands" with a litle "palm tree" bt they are way too small >.<

i know my setup kinda sucks atm, but i will get a bigger tank+filters+heater,...when i ave some money(i'm gonna work to get some money :))

  • did you get them from turtle sale.com

  • amazing! I have two of these myself as well as two yellow bellied sliders. Nice tank setup! they have so much room to swim in! Mine have grown soo fast!

  • Looks like you have a nice set up for your turtles. Nice water clarity for the video. Classic shot of the turtle swimming through the log at 43 seconds. My suggestion would be to add a small amount of gravel to the bottom of the tank not only for a nice look but it will provide and area for beneficial bacteria to colonize. The gravel can be cleaned with a gravel vacuum. I didn't see the lights or filters. Be sure you have quality lighting since you have them indoors. Have fun!
